What's new in Keep-It-Up-X 3.1
- Virtual memory statistics
help to determine if performance can be improved by adding more RAM to
your system.
- KIU automounter
will mount Appleshare volumes at startup and remount these volumes when
the connection was broken. An e-mail is sent when a volume is remounted or
when the mount fails if the Appleshare server is unavailable .
- improved password security:
- each time a bad password is entered when accessing
the webinterface, the delay for re-entering the password is doubled. Somebody
trying to guess the password will be slowed down considerably, because
after only a few guesses, the delay increases to several minutes, making
password guessing completely impractical.
- after 5 wrong passwords, the access is forbidden
from that browser-session, forcing an intruder to relaunch his browser
for each additional attempt. This should slow down intrusion attempts even
further.
- some logfiles created by Unix-style software creates logfiles
that aren't detected when added to the KIU Weblog folder. To remedy this,
simply rename of the alias to make it end with ".log"
- a link at the bottom of the webinterface takes you straight
to the Kagi registation page for KIU
- the IP address of the Mac running KIU is now displayed
in all webpages and e-mail messages. This makes it easier to distinguish
different Macs running KIU.
- added a logfile view option of 256KB
- the webinterface is now compatible with the Opera browser
and Netscape 6.2.
- relaunch options have changed: KIU sets a relaunch limit on
each individual application. When exceeded, KIU can be told
to either ignore that application or restart the Mac.
